Abstract Realism Paintings: Reflections

“Abstract Realism: Reflections” explores boundaries between representation and abstraction, drawing attention to visual details that might otherwise be subconsciously noted.

Other than the prototype, each painting is based on a cropped photograph of a storefront window reflection — where surfaces, objects, and viewpoints converge. Through this simple intervention, ordinary elements are repurposed as compositional elements, creating a new, flattened visual reality.

Abstract Realism Paintings: Objects and Faceless Portraits

What we surround ourselves with can be seen as an extension of the self. Identity can be fluid — tied to both the original object it depicts, as well as potential new interpretations in its final flattened, abstracted state.

Biomorphic Geometrics

These were the first abstract paintings I produced after making the switch from portraiture. They were inspired by an exhibition in Philadelphia of plans and elevations by landscape architect Harriet Pattison.
